The Eyes of Mandoral: an epic fantasy series of found family and more

Some backers, not all, may see another shipping charge this week. This is NOT an additional charge -- it's completing the shipping you were originally quoted, which for some reason was not charged in full.

Here's a typical example:



You can see that while shipping was quoted at $19.99, only $17 was charged. (Nope, no idea why. Support hasn't been able to identify a reason yet, either, though we're still looking.)

To be very clear, this is not for profit on my part; my actual shipping cost for this particular package is now $22.16, not 19.99, but I wasn't going to raise rates on anyone. I just also don't want to lose more money on each package!

The correction was needed at multiple shipping levels, both domestic and international.



Nearly every instance will show a charge of $2.99; I think there are a couple of 3.99 cases.

I am very sorry for the confusion of a second charge, but again, this is not charging more than you were quoted, just catching up to the original quote.

A very few backers may see a different 2.99 underpayment on their accounts, and we're still trying to figure out that one, too. In those few cases, the undercharge happened at the pledge level:



Don't worry; no one will be charged more than they were originally shown! These secondary charges are only bringing up to the original shown totals.

On the other hand, I have also refunded partial shipping to several backers who were charged more than necessary; each should have received a message about the refund.

About 20% of packages have already gone out.

Books have arrived, and they're already on their way out again! A few people have already received their goods, and some will pick up locally at Gen Con next week, and others will see packages arriving over the next weeks.

There is one significant delay: The special edition paperbacks made it mostly safely, but the special edition hardbacks suffered some damage in route. And when I say "some damage," I mean, some pretty severe damage.



Good news -- they are being reprinted and reshipped, already in progress. If you have special edition hardbacks coming, they will take a little longer, but they are coming! And they look really nice, aside from the damage.



There are still 16 backers who have not completed a survey, so if that's you, consider this a friendly nudge. :) I can't send stuff without a completed survey.

I expect most packages (except for the hardback special editions) will ship next week, barring any more unexpected troubles. Your Backerkit account will be updated with a tracking number when it's available.

Yesterday, all the new duology ebooks went out. Today, all other novel titles went out.



If you get an error message suggesting your code is invalid, check that you copied it completely -- your download code should have 9 characters. These codes must be entered at GetMyBook.com; don't type it into your BookFunnel app, as that's a different code retrieval system.

All ebooks should now be delivered except the Bonus Ebook of Extra Extras, which is waiting for one more story to be added. You don't want to read that first, anyway; potential spoilers. :) I'll let you know when to look for that one.

In other news, I got a tracking update for one of the book shipments today, so that set is safely en route! Paperbacks should arrive to me at the end of July, hardbacks at the beginning of August. Special editions are still MIA, unclear if they're still at the printer's warehouse or somewhere on the road, but I'm hoping for an update soon, and I'll keep you posted.

Hello, friends. Unfortunately, I need to make a substitution.

I was informed this week by my contractor that the machine which produces the burnout bookmarks has gone facedown in a ditch. If there's one thing I've learned from the movies, it's not to try to use lasers which have been declared out of order, and due to a lengthy parts replacement, repairs will not be completed in a timely manner, and so I'm going to substitute for all the pledges which included a burnout bookmark.

(The art nouveau bookmarks are done and waiting to go out! No change there.)

If your pledge (Painter's Eye and above, $59 or more) included a burnout bookmark, watch for something else fun and useful tucked into your box instead. If you added a burnout bookmark separately, please reply to the email you'll receive asking whether you'd prefer a refund, credit for another item from this campaign or from my store, or a substitute. 

I'm sorry for the change, but I hope you'll enjoy the new items. I'll see if I can turn the burnout bookmark design into something fun for a digital download, maybe.
